Chemical Oxygen Demand CODcr water quality online automatic automatic monitor designed for low concentration, high precision organic pollution monitoring and design, especially suitable for the discharge concentration <50mg / L of factories and mining enterprises, urban sewage treatment plant inlet, outlet COD online monitoring.

The analytical method of the instrument adopts dichromate photometric method, which is in line with the national standard ‘Determination of Chemical Oxygen Demand in Water Quality Dichromate Method’ (HJ 828-2017), which is a national class A method for COD monitoring, ensuring the accuracy and validity of the monitoring data.

Definition and hazards of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD):

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is one of the indicators for evaluating the degree of organic pollution in water bodies and is an important parameter for water quality monitoring. It is defined as the amount of oxidant consumed when treating water samples with potassium dichromate as oxidant under strong acid and heating conditions, expressed in mg/L of oxygen.

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) reflects the extent to which a water body is contaminated by reducing substances. Reducing substances in water include organic matter, nitrites, ferrous salts, sulphides, etc., which constantly consume oxygen in water in the process of biochemical degradation, thus resulting in the depletion of dissolved oxygen. If aquatic plants and air can not replenish the oxygen in the water in time, then these reducing substances will destroy the ecological balance of the water environment and biological communities, and bring about adverse effects. Therefore, chemical oxygen demand is one of the important indicators for the implementation of total emission control in China.

With the implementation of China's total environmental discharge control policy, the determination of industrial wastewater COD discharge indicators of the total measurement has become an urgent need.

Instrument measurement principle:

The main methods for determining COD in water and wastewater are potassium dichromate method, coulometric method and rapid closed catalytic digestion method. This equipment adopts the national standard class A method - potassium dichromate redox method, the principle is: the sample in the strong oxidant (potassium dichromate), catalyst (silver sulfate) and high temperature and high pressure (165 ℃, 0.4MPa) under the conditions of rapid digestion, in the process, the hexavalent chromium as an oxidant to be reduced and thus the colour change ( brown-red to dark green), and the colour change to dark green, and the colour change to dark green. During the process, hexavalent chromium is reduced as an oxidant and changes its colour (brownish-red to dark green), and the degree of colour change is proportional to the amount of reducing substances in the sample, and the instrument directly displays the COD value of the sample through colourimetric conversion.

CODcr type COD water quality automatic monitor combines the national standard class A detection method and the international leading microfluidic control technology, which can provide stable, reliable and accurate COD monitoring results, at the same time, the instrument has low reagent consumption, low operation and maintenance, and outstanding cost performance.

The measuring principle of the instrument is in accordance with the national class A standard HJ/T399-2007 ‘Determination of Chemical Oxygen Demand in Water Quality Rapid Elimination Spectrophotometric Method’.

CODcr type COD water quality automatic monitor realises the full automation of water quality analysis and determination process. It can be widely used in factory and mining enterprise outfall monitoring, city sewage treatment plant import and export monitoring, water quality monitoring of rivers and lakes and sewage treatment facilities control devices.

According to the complex and changing working conditions on site, CODcr automatic monitor can also be equipped with the corresponding pretreatment system to fully meet the needs of different industries and different customers.
